Rangers: Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock in Cloud Cuckoo Land with absurd Ibrox comments
Neil Warnock is surely living in Cloud Cuckoo Land after some absurd comments regarding Aberdeen bridging the gap between themselves and Rangers and Celtic.
Speaking in his press conference (via Glasgow Times, 13 February), Warnock who was appointed manager a day before The Dons’ 2-1 defeat at Ibrox (6 February) shared the belief that Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian can bridge the gap on the Old Firm rivals over time.
Rangers and Celtic once again take up the positions in the Scottish Premiership table in what should be another gripping title race between Philippe Clement’s team and Brendan Rodgers’ side with the Hoops three points clear at the top while Rangers sit ten points clear of Hearts.
Warnock who took over a side well away from the top three strangely insists he will be letting the Aberdeen hierarchy know what they can do to get close to Glasgow’s big two.
He said: “I think it is possible to break into the big-timers, but I think it would take anybody time to do that.
“Having been here for two or three games now, I can see that some of the players under me are relishing the challenge up here.
“I think that’s the big thing for clubs like Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs who are challenging the top two.
“But I haven’t had much time to look beyond that. I have got enough to do in looking at my players and trying to get the best out of the group and deciding on who will play and who won’t play.”
“I think it’s a mixture of things. The recruitment has got to be excellent and in liaison with the manager.”
Neil Warnock can’t seem to face reality – Rangers and Celtic streets ahead of the rest
Warnock has got it completely wrong with his comments in all honesty.
Certainly, the dream is there for all of those aforementioned clubs to catch Celtic and Rangers but the reality is, the Old Firm rivals will always have the star power that none of them can match.
It’s not just the money both teams possess, but the infrastructure, recruitment, history and size that none of those teams, even with all the money in the world will struggle to contend with.
Rangers and Celtic will also always attract the quality managers to take them to the elite level, something Aberdeen and the rest don’t have the pull to do or never will.
The transformation a manager like Clement has done at Ibrox surely can’t be achieved at Aberdeen or Hibs because the setup from within those clubs isn’t in place to match.
Hearts have done incredibly well under Steven Naismith this season but the gap between them and the top two is still considerable and just goes to show how hard it is to reach those levels and maintain it.
Aberdeen’s best players will always dream of Rangers and Celtic opportunity
Warnock can talk about his side possessing quality talents right now but again, the reality will always be that most of those players will want to play for Rangers and Celtic eventually. The same cannot be said the other way around.

Aberdeen possess one of the league’s best strikers right now in Bojan Miovski currently on 20-plus goals for the campaign and could well be about to lose him to one of the Scottish big two.
The Dons have graced Europe this season but certainly won’t be able to achieve those lofty heights again next season which means Rangers and Celtic can attract their best players like Miovski because of their pull, glamour and of course participation amongst Europe’s elite.
This fact only goes to show that Warnock cannot face the reality or the order that is, Celtic and Rangers will always be a step or ten above the rest.
