Rangers BBC pundit tells journalists what to not ask Phillipe Clement now – ‘Don’t dare’
Kenny Miller has warned journalists not to ask Philippe Clement about Rangers going top of the Scottish Premiership, with the manager focusing game-by-game.
The Gers currently have a game in hand over their Old Firm rivals, which will be played in their next fixture against Ross County on Wednesday 14 February. A victory would see Rangers reach the summit and replace Celtic.
Although the Ibrox faithful will be extremely excited at the prospect of topping the first division, Miller believes that Clement’s only thought is about the next game, rather than the league title.
Writing for Daily Record on Monday (11 February), the former Scotland striker said: “Don’t dare ask Philippe Clement about going top of the Premiership table on Wednesday night. Because he’s not interested.
“If you listen to him, the Rangers manager simply sees it as another night’s work. Three more points in the process of trying to become champions. And I’m all for that focus and single-minded attitude.”
Philippe Clement taking it one step at a time
Clement is taking the sensible approach, and so he should. The fans have the right to get excited about the possibility of winning the league over their rivals but as the manager, the Belgian needs to stay calm. cool and collected.
It will always be seen as a cliche when managers say they are not looking any further ahead than the next game, but it will be extremely difficult not to be at this stage in the season.

While Michael Beale was in charge earlier in the season, it looked like it would take a miracle for Rangers to catch up to Celtic. But Clement has proven to be that miracle, leading the Gers to within three points of Celtic while also securing a place in the next round of the Europa League.
There will be many stumbling blocks ahead that the Gers will need to overcome, with another meeting against Celtic at Ibrox in April the biggest of those hurdles. Clement has earned the trust of the supporters, though, and the league may come down to that one match.
