Michael Stewart reacts to ‘Ludicrous’ Rangers footage v Ayr

Michael Stewart has labelled decisions by Willie Collum in the 2-0 win for Rangers over Atr at Ibrox as “ludicrous” on Saturday 10 February.

After the controversial official decided to hand a freekick to the away side, Stewart was left scratching his head as the footage replayed live on air.

It was the first time Collum was back at Ibrox since the Bears had requested he no longer officiated any of their games after the controversy in the Old Firm.

Speaking live on ViaPlay during the second half at Ibrox [10 February], Stewart called out Collum for yet another one of his decisions.

“It’s not even as if Scott Wright pulls him back beforehand and Raskin times a great tackle,” he said.

“It’s ludicrous refereeing.”

Collum at it again at Rangers

As much as the SFA were never going to allow a club to dictate who officiates their games when incidents like this keep on happening, it is hard to avoid.

What on earth did Collum see when Scott Wright and Nico Raskin were hustling the away side into mistakes?

He just couldn’t wait to blow his whistle again and not help himself, with numerous contentious calls going for and against Rangers in the game, it has to be said.

Fabio Silva could easily have been sent off on another night, but Collum leaves Ibrox probably hoping that he doesn’t have to return any time soon.

In terms of the performance, it was nowhere near good enough from the home side but when the games are coming thick and fast, you have to win no matter how you play.
