Chris Sutton in rare Rangers and Philippe Clement love in as he slams Celtic

Chris Sutton has waxed lyrical over Rangers and Philippe Clement as he’s taken a dig at the recent performances of Celtic.

The former Hoops striker believes that Clement is guiding Gers in the right direction as they find themselves just three points behind their rivals.

Celtic, on the other hand, have been erratic and are only ahead on the table as they have played a game more than Rangers.

Sutton told Sky Sports on 8 February: “There has been a mentality shift. You can see it. The longer Clement has been manager at the club, the belief has grown and it is getting stronger and stronger.

“There’s been a very obvious momentum swing since Clement’s arrival at Rangers. He’s building a team that is gathering belief with every week.

“Celtic have been inconsistent this season. That has been their biggest problem.”

Rangers and Clement flying high

It’s certainly a shift in the winds to witness Sutton, a former Celtic striker, singing praises for Gers and their manager Clement.

Yet, it’s a testament to the undeniable strides the side have made under Clement’s leadership.

Their resurgence, currently trailing their rivals by a mere three points, contrasts sharply with Celtic’s erratic form, a stark departure from their dominant displays earlier in the season.

The decision to replace Michael Beale with Clement appears to have catalysed Rangers’ transformation, instilling a newfound belief and momentum within the squad.

While Sutton’s allegiance may lie with the Hoops even he can’t deny the palpable shift in dynamics between the Glasgow rivals.

Philippe Clement’s new-look Rangers squad is already beginning to take shape this summer.

For Sutton, acknowledging their ascendancy while critiquing Celtic’s inconsistency underscores the current reality of the Scottish Premiership title race: Gers are on the rise and the Hoops must find stability to reclaim their former dominance.
