Rangers vs Aberdeen: Pundit stunned by what EPL-bound Bojan Miovski did to Connor Goldson
Tam McManus was blown away by Bojan Miovski after he “swatted” Rangers defender Connor Goldson “aside like a fly” at Ibrox on Tuesday night.
The pundit reacted via Twitter during the game on 6 February after the Aberdeen forward held off his opposite number to equalise just before half-time, claiming it showed he was “too good for Scottish football”.
Todd Cantwell scored the winner after Rabbi Matondo had opened the scoring as the Light Blues went level on points with Celtic at the top of the table, but McManus was focused on the Macedonian who he says is exit-bound at Pittodrie.
McManus wrote: “Miovski is so good. Deadly in front of goal. Absolutely swatted big Goldson aside like a fly there. Not only too good for Aberdeen but too good for Scottish Football. English Premier League bound in the Summer.”
Miovski impresses but Rangers take points at Ibrox
It was a rousing performance as the Light Blues won a tight game 2-1 to put the pressure on Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops ahead of their game at Hibs 24 hours later and could provide a key psychological boost to see the gap closed in the SPFL.
The difference once stood at eight points but Philippe Clement replacing Michael Beale has made a huge difference to this side, despite the squad still being a work in progress.
Injuries certainly haven’t helped, and Miovski’s performance will only have highlighted the difference a proven goalscorer can make up front.
Cyriel Dessers has improved from his difficult start at Rangers following the summer move and Fabio Silva has shown since the transfer window shut that his loan arrival from Wolves could be key.
But if Clement had someone in Miovski’s mould in his squad at Ibrox there would be a lot more confidence that this title race can go their way.
Winning a physical battle with Goldson is easier said than done but the 24-year-old managed it in some style for his well-taken goal, although the Gers showed good resilience to come out on top and hand Neil Warnock a loss in his first game as Dons boss.
