Rangers: Michael Beale shortcomings evident again as Jose Cifuentes news emerges
Rangers had a major rebuild last summer, with then-manager Michael Beale playing a major role in a massive squad overhaul.
The boss said goodbye to the likes of long-serving players Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Scott Arfield.
And in the other direction, nine new faces arrived, ranging from defensive assets Jack Butland and Dujon Sterling to offensive assets Danilo and Cyriel Dessers.
The summer recruits have had varying degrees of success, with one player in Sam Lammers having already departed Ibrox. The forward left on loan last month for FC Utrecht, and now looks set to be followed out the door by Jose Cifuentes.
Cifuentes close to Rangers exit
According to Brazilian website No Ataque (5 February), the midfielder is set to present himself shortly for his medical at Cruzeiro ahead of a loan exit from Ibrox.
Like Lammers, he really didn’t have the impact that many fans, and of course Beale, expected, with his Rangers career perhaps now already over, even if it is just a temporary switch to Brazil.
Philippe Clement is now in the hot seat in Glasgow, and given his start to life at Ibrox, supporters will not for one second question his decision-making.

In his brief time at the club so far, the Belgian has lifted the League Cup trophy, driven the Gers into the Europa League knockout stages and guided them into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
And perhaps most impressively, the man in the dugout has narrowed the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic to just three points, with the number one sport up for grabs against Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).
In other Rangers news, Jack Butland has sent a three-word message to one of his teammates after an Ibrox milestone.
