Former Liverpool and Everton ace Don Hutchison makes Rangers transfer admission

Former Liverpool and Everton midfielder Don Hutchison regrets turning down the chance to join Rangers in the Dick Advocaat era.

On Twitter, the now BBC pundit revealed that he and his dad are huge Rangers fans and also admitted he loved the crowd at Ibrox.

Hutchison played in the Premier League and apart from the two Merseyside clubs, he also featured for West Ham, Sunderland, Coventry City and Luton Town.

Hutchison wrote on Twitter: “Still bugs me to this day, I didn’t sign for Rangers back in the day. 2000 ish under Dick Advocaat.

When asked if he was a Gers fan, he said: “My dad was so yeh mate.”

Hutchison at Ibrox instead of Liverpool or Everton?

During Advocaat’s tenure as Gers manager from 1998 to 2001, the club experienced significant success, including winning two Scottish Premier League titles in 1999 and 2000, two Scottish Cups in 1999 and 2000 and a Scottish League Cup in 1999.

Hutchison, who was a versatile midfielder known for his work rate and technical ability, could have brought valuable experience and quality to the Rangers squad during this period.

His presence would have provided additional depth and creativity in midfield, complementing the team’s attacking style of play.

The Englishman’s versatility would have allowed Advocaat to rotate his squad effectively and adapt to different tactical situations.

Moreover, Hutchison’s familiarity with the Scottish football landscape and his passion for Ibrox and Gers, as indicated by his regret for not joining the club, would have further motivated him to perform at his best for the team.

He’s currently working in the media but if there was ever a behind-the-scenes position offered to him at Ibrox, he’d probably not turn it down this time around as he loves the club and the fans.

In other Rangers news, the club’s quest to seal a permanent transfer in the summer now hinges on one condition.
