Chris Jack shares Bojan Miovski transfer verdict at Rangers at Ibrox

Chris Jack has claimed any possible deal for Rangers to sign Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski this summer would be out of the club’s reach in terms of the fee involved.

The Rangers Review journalist suggested that the reason Miovski was never in the conversation during the January window was due to the price tag, which is far from what Gers would be willing to pay.

Jack went on to suggest that if the club wanted to sign the striker they have already missed their opportunity, as any deal would have to have been last summer when his fee remained low.

Speaking to The Rangers Review [7 February], Jack shared: “I think that’s why he wasn’t in the conversation. I think people realised the price that Aberdeen would want, and the price that Rangers were willing to pay for any striker during January, and those two numbers were always going to be too far ahead.

“Because of his profile, he comes with a much higher fee. We know Aberdeen are not going to be easy to deal with, arguably more difficult than Hearts would have been had Rangers pursued Shankland. I think he’s probably out with the fee, unfortunately.

“For me, he’s a very, very talented player, but I fear he will be out of Rangers’ price bracket. It’s one of the ones we missed out on, if we wanted to sign him, it had to be last summer.”

Rangers still need a striker

The arrival of Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers’ step up in form of late has not dispelled the idea that Rangers will still need to bring in a new striker if they want to regularly challenge for the SPFL title.

Ally McCoist insisted that both Glasgow clubs are one quality centre-forward away from staking a real claim to the league title rather than being involved in the closely fought title battle they currently find themselves in.

Miovski has been roundly suggested as that man for Rangers after the goal he scored at Ibrox, bullying Connor Goldson before lifting the ball over Jack Butland in a game where he was otherwise largely feeding off scraps.

Kris Boyd also noticed the striker’s quality and urged Philippe Clement to sign him in the summer, having been shocked nobody went for him during the January transfer window, which former Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis insisted was because of the price.

The former Dons man mooted an £8million price rag plus add-ons, which would almost double the transfer record between two Scottish clubs, which is currently £4.4million.
