Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist moot Lawrence Shankland deal amid Rangers title verdict
Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have suggested possible transfers for both Bojan Miovski and Lawrence Shankland to either Rangers or Celtic.
The former Celtic and Rangers men suggested both sides are just a top forward away from pushing on, with both players mooted as improvements, but as it stands there is nothing to choose between the two teams.
They also discussed Shankland’s contract situation at Hearts, with the striker still yet to sign a new deal despite multiple offers being made, which could open to door for a move to Ibrox.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [7 February, 06:09], McCoist shared: “Rangers have brought a couple in. The wee boy Silva, the lad that was at Wolves, he looks lively enough but I think it’s the same problem, I’m not sure he’s got enough goals in him.
“Al, rightly or wrongly, I think if one or two of the Old Firm had gone and bought the boy Miovski from Aberdeen or Shankland from Hearts,” as Brazil chipped in: “Has he not said he’s not signing, he wants away? He’s not signing for Hearts?”
McCoist then clarified: “He’s been offered a new contract and I don’t think he’s signed it. I think, honestly, there’s nothing between the teams.”
Rangers should be watching
Both strikers have been flying so far this season, and both have been linked previously with possible moves to Ibrox with the striker position still under intense scrutiny amid their ongoing title challenge.
Despite a bright start to his Ibrox career, McCoist doesn’t seem to trust Silva as the long-term solution to their goalscoring issue, while Miovski proved in the 2-1 defeat for Aberdeen that he is certainly capable of finding the net.
The striker bullied Connor Goldson before lifting the ball over Jack Butland in a well-taken, albeit a bit scrappy, goal which showed Philippe Clement exactly what he could do with at Rangers.

With 13 goals and two assists in 24 games so far this season, he is putting up numbers that would certainly suit the top teams despite Aberdeen’s poor form which led to the sacking of Barry Robson and the arrival of Neil Warnock.
Shankland, meanwhile, is yet to sign a new deal at Tynecastle and his 16 SPFL goals this season have seen non-stop conversation about a potential move to Glasgow, although nothing materialised in January.
