Rangers: Chris Sutton loses mind over what he saw v Aberdeen at Ibrox – ‘Phenomenal’

Chris Sutton could not believe his eyes after Bojan Miovski’s “phenomenal” equaliser for Aberdeen as Rangers won 2-1 against them at Ibrox on Tuesday (6 February).

Rangers moved level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aberdeen after goals from Rabbi Matondo and Todd Cantwell.

The Gers made a fabulous start to their ambitions of catching their rivals when Rabbi Matondo gave them the lead inside six minutes latching on to a rebound after Dons goalkeeper Roos spilled Ross McCausland’s shot.

However, against the run of play, Miovski grabbed the equaliser bagging his 20th of the season, running on the end of a long pass before beautifully lifting the ball over Jack Butland amidst pressure from Conor Goldson.

Miovski’s strike had Sutton wowed live on Sky Sports (6 February, 08:54 pm) he said: “This is a phenomenal goal.

“I mean, people can criticise Goldson, but as Miovski has already read the pass and then he’s on the move. And then he’s still got such a lot of work to do.

“But his clarity and thought is brilliant.”

Rangers should have gone for Miovski transfer in January

Rangers were really comfortable all half at Ibrox as Clement saw his side make some great progress on their way to close the gap to Celtic.

Matondo’s strike had eased the nerves inside Ibrox looking to grab the three points against an Aberdeen side who will have been on the end of a new-manager bounce after Neil Warnock’s appointment.

Clement’s men had put all those nerves to bed with such a great start and should have added more goals before Miovski’s expert finish.

Butland who’s been absolutely brilliant all campaign long could do nothing about the finish as Miovski finished like a pure goalscorer who bags 20 goals a season for fun.

That’s the kind of striker Rangers need funnily enough if they are to usurp Celtic and had they submitted a £2million bid or just above that, they could have got their man. Instead of hesitating over Lawrence Shankland.

The 24-year-old has been stunning for Aberdeen in what’s been an average campaign for the whole club at Pittodrie but Miovski has been performing like a striker who should be performing for a title-chasing team.

Surely that finish has now brought a lot of eyes at Rangers on the Macedonian hitman. Brilliant striker and a tremendous finisher.

In other Rangers news, one player is due to jet out of Glasgow on Friday as another Ibrox exit is on the cards.
