Neil Lennon names Rangers ‘question mark’, delivers Philippe Clement verdict
Neil Lennon has been impressed by Philippe Clement since arriving at Rangers but has raised a “question mark” over the Ibrox side.
Rangers’ only defeat under Philippe Clement came against Old Firm rivals Celtic at the end of December but they trail the Bhoys by just three points in the Scottish Premiership and own a game in hand.
The former Celtic manager believes Clement has done a “terrific” job in Glasgow, but also delivered a verdict on Rangers’ chances of pipping their Old Firm rivals to the title.
Speaking on the PLZ Football Show on Monday (5 February), he said: “I agree that he has done a terrific job. I agree that Rangers are a work in progress. He wants to see improvement in different areas of the team, but they have been really consistent.
“But the one question mark is the one defeat was at Celtic Park – I felt they didn’t look great. I know they got back into the game but it could have been well away from them at that point.”
Asked who would win the league, Lennon added: “Celtic. It will be close. It will probably go down to the two games and the psychological fallout of that. It’s down to the players now.”
Point to prove for Rangers
Rangers have done brilliantly to make a fight out of the title race this season after the disastrous start made under Michael Beale and have really chipped away at the gap to Celtic and have a fantastic chance of winning the title.
Lennon, as you’d expect, still sounds just as confident that his old side will get the job done but he must be worrying just a little bit.

It has been particularly impressive given the Gers have been plagued by injuries this season, with Abdallah Sima, Kemar Roofe and Danilo all unavailable in attack, while Ryan Jack has also been a huge miss this season.
But with a game in hand, Rangers have the chance to draw level with Celtic, with the two sides next set to meet again in April. Lennon could be correct in saying that the league might be decided by the Old Firm clashes and, if so, the hope will be that Clement can get the better of Brendan Rodgers on the next occasion.
In other Rangers news, the club’s quest to seal a permanent transfer in the summer now hinges on one condition.
