Todd Cantwell makes Rangers transfer admission as ‘good enough’ verdict shared
Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell trusts that the new players brought to the club by Philippe Clement are good enough.
The Belgian manager recruited Fabio Silva, Mohamed Diomande and Oscar Cortes at Ibrox in the recent transfer window.
All three players have moved to the Gers on loan, with Diomande’s move to become permanent in the summer [Sky Sports, 1 February].
“I trust the recruitment team,” said Cantwell, as quoted by the Daily Record. “They got me, so I am presuming that the new signings are good enough!”
Busy Rangers window
Rangers supporters were perhaps unsure about what Clement would do in the winter transfer window, in what was the manager’s first chance to buy and sell players since moving to Ibrox.
The failures of his predecessor Michael Beale have been well documented, with his poor recruitment playing a major role in his sacking earlier this season.
Some of the nine players he brought to the club last summer have settled in well, but others haven’t, with Sam Lammers having already been moved on temporarily by Clement.
Jose Cifuentes could follow suit, while Clement also temporarily said goodbye to Adam Devine as he joined Motherwell for the rest of the season.
In terms of incomings, Rangers star Cantwell will now be helped out in midfield by Diomande following his loan from FC Nordsjaelland, while attackers Cortes and Silva have arrived from Lens and Wolves respectively.

Silva has now got his Ibrox career up and running, with the loan striker netting his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win against Livingston on Saturday (3 February).
