Philippe Clement confirms Ryan Jack news for Rangers v Neil Warnock and Aberdeen

Philippe Clement will be without Ryan Jack as Rangers face Aberdeen and Neil Warnock at Ibrox on Tuesday night (6 February) looking to go top of the table.

In his pre-match press conference on 5 February, via the club’s official Twitter account, the Light Blues boss revealed that the oft-injured midfielder won’t be risked for two games in quick succession after he started against Livingston at the weekend.

Leon Balogun, who may have suffered a facial fracture in that game as he was withdrawn with a suspected concussion, also misses out as he needs to see a specialist for the injury with regards to potential surgery.

In addition, Chris Jack reported from the manager that Ben Davies and Kemar Roofe remain out but are getting “closer” to contention.

Rangers could go top of the SPFL with Celtic playing 24 hours later

The arrival of Warnock in the SPFL will bring a new element to what is already a huge clash for the Light Blues, given Clement can take his side top of the table with a win.

After the 3-0 victory over Livingston at the weekend closed the gap to three points, thanks to Celtic dropping two at Pittodrie, there is just one win in it at the summit, with the Hoops’ goal difference just two superior now.

Games against the Dons are rarely simple affairs so three points is anything but a given, but the Light Blues maintained momentum against the league’s bottom side.

Fabio Silva put in a performance to, at least slightly, assuage fears that Rangers have left themselves light in attack by failing to sign a striker in January after scoring his first for the club in a strong all-round display.

Following up with a win over Warnock and his new side will put the pressure on Brendan Rodgers and his team when they travel to Hibs on Wednesday, and could provide a valuable psychological boost to the Gers squad to see themselves top again given the miserable start to the season they’ve recovered from since Clement arrived.
