Jack Butland sends three-word message to James Tavernier after Rangers milestone

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland has sent a three-word message to his Ibrox teammate and captain James Tavernier.

It comes after the defender celebrated his 300th league game for Rangers in their win against Livingston on Saturday (3 February).

Both Tavernier and Butland played the entire 90 minutes in the 3-0 Scottish Premiership victory at Ibrox that moved the club to within three points of league leaders Celtic.

Taking to social media to celebrate the win and his personal milestone, Tavernier posted on Instagram: “3 points & 300 league games for this special club,” with Butland commenting: “Love it skip.”

Fantastic Rangers milestone

Tavernier really does deserve a lot of credit, with the defender sticking with Rangers through thick and thin. The right-back has witnessed many managers come and go at Ibrox, but he has always remained professional, with his attitude rewarded via the captain’s armband.

He is well-respected by his teammates, for his efforts both on and off the pitch, with Tavernier always ready to lead his beloved club.

It was fitting that Rangers clinched three points and also a clean sheet on his 300th league appearance, but perhaps the only thing missing was a Tavernier goal.

Often against the odds, the right-back has stepped up time and again to bail out his club when they needed him most, whether it be through a penalty or free-kick, or from open play.

Rangers
James Tavernier is the all-time leading defensive goalscorer for Rangers.

He has now reached a superb milestone for the Scottish giants, with manager Philippe Clement and the Ibrox faithful desperate for that number to continue rising and rising.
