Rangers face Neil Warnock distraction at Ibrox amid Aberdeen news today
Rangers could face an unwelcome distraction when they host Aberdeen at Ibrox on Tuesday (6 February).
According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday (4 February), Neil Warnock is set to be appointed by the Dons as their interim manager.
Aberdeen sacked Barry Robson earlier this week and are now looking to bring in the vastly-experienced Warnock to replace him.
The same report claims that Warnock could be in place for the trip to Ibrox, which would garner plenty of attention.
Warnock is a self-confessed Rangers fan and previously put his hat in the ring to succeed Michael Beale earlier this season.
Neil Warnock’s managerial record
The Englishman’s managerial pedigree south of the border must be respected, with nobody earning more English Football League promotions.
Rangers are a much better side than Aberdeen, of course, regardless of who is in charge.
However, everyone is aware that the ‘new manager bounce’ – assuming Warnock’s arrival is confirmed beforehand – is a real thing.

It will also mean far more attention is on the match as neutrals look to see how Warnock gets on.
If we have learned anything under the Philippe Clement regime, though, it is that the Belgian will ensure every one of his players are focused.
Warnock may well make a success of things in this new chapter – he usually does, in fairness – but Rangers must ensure they spoil his big moment.
In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement admits he was “hurt” by a decision he had to make.
