Fabio Silva tipped for Rangers return in 2024/25 season amid ‘Massive’ development
Fabio Silva has been tipped to return to Rangers for the 2024/25 season by his father as he looks to settle down at a club.
The Wolves striker moved to Ibrox on loan for the rest of the season in January in search of more regular first-team football, and scored his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win over Livingston on Saturday afternoon.
And speaking to Sunday Mail, as quoted by the Glasgow Times (4 February), his dad Jorge admitted that anything could happen in the next four months and suggested a return to Ibrox could happen if he hits the ground running this season.
“We have a long contract with Wolves but Fabio has to settle down somewhere,” he said.
“Is there a possibility of Fabio staying at Rangers next season if he does well, even on loan? I think so, yes. Listen, in four months many things can happen.
“But I hope Rangers can be champions this season which would be amazing for the club and also for Fabio.
“To play in the Champions League, that’s something Fabio has desired so much. He needs continuity in his career now. If Rangers are happy with him – and obviously the last word will be with Wolves – why not?
“My advice to Fabio is to give his best for this massive club, do what he can to help his team and the coach – and make the supporters happy. If everyone is happy at the end of the season, why couldn’t he go back to Rangers?”
Never say never at Rangers
It’s far too early into his Ibrox career to make a decision, and nobody knows the plans of Philippe Clement and Rangers heading into the summer window.
But stranger things have happened at Ibrox in recent times and if Silva hits the ground running and scores the goals that take us to number 56 then you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t want him back for next season.
Wolves have spent big money on attackers in recent times, including Silva, but if he isn’t going to play regularly there then he would surely be keen on sticking around and we’d be happy to have him.
But that all depends on him getting goals and fitting in well, because everyone associated with Rangers was similarly excited about the signing of Jose Cifuentes in the summer and that’s gone to pot already with a move to Brazil set to be confirmed in the coming days.
There’s no rush to make a decision and both parties will go through plenty before it actually happens in the summer, but these comments show that it’s going well for now and he’s be open to it so it’s something to consider for sure.
