Ridvan Yilmaz wage demand emerges to quit Rangers for Galatasaray in Deadline Day transfer

Ridvan Yilmaz wants a very high wage to leave Rangers and join Galatasaray before the end of the January transfer window, according to Erinc Bilican.

The Turkish journalist reported via Markaj YouTube channel (1 February) that the Light Blues want €5million for his services ahead of Thursday (1 February) night’s deadline, with the left-back himself also wanting a high wage, therefore a deal is unlikely to happen.

Yilmaz’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation throughout the January window, but it now appears that Galatasaray may opt not to sign a new left-sided defender this month and instead use the options already at their disposal.

Fingers crossed

While Yilmaz has been inconsistent throughout his time at Ibrox, Rangers cannot afford to lose one of their only left-back options so late in the transfer window with barely any time to find a suitable replacement.

Borna Barisic’s contract is up at the end of the season and if the Croatian and Yilmaz both left Ibrox within six months of each other, Philippe Clement would have a massive job on his hands to replace the pair and challenge for the Premiership title.

Rangers

It has never been clear whether Yilmaz wanted a move to Turkey during the January window, but it seems natural that he would have wanted a big bump in pay to leave Rangers where he has now become the Light Blue’s first choice defender.

Hopefully, Galatasaray don’t throw a big lump of money at this deal in the final moments of the January window, but even if they did, it seems incredibly unlikely that this deal would get over the line with so little time left.
