Rangers: Ridvan Yilmaz Plan A signing for Galatasaray as talks held in last 24 hours
Rangers full-back Ridvan Yilmaz is the “Plan A” signing for Galatasaray ahead of the January transfer window closing, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
The Sports Digitale reporter also shared via his personal Twitter account on Deadline Day (1 February) that the clubs had been in contract the previous day.
Negotiations over a deal for Ridvan are said to be ongoing, with Galatasaray ready to look elsewhere if they are unable to get a deal over the line.
Upturn in form
Ridvan looked extremely likely to join Galatasaray at one point, but it seems unlikely that a transfer will now go through with hours of the transfer window to go.
The Gers have Borna Barisic for now, while Jefte is to join in the summer, but Philippe Clement could do with having the Turkey international until the end of the season.
Galatasaray must surely be growing concerned about missing out on the left-back they clearly crave, so surely it makes sense for the Turkish heavyweights to now focus their attentions elsewhere?
The transfer speculation surrounding Ridvan has coincided with an upturn in form for the defender, which has been very much welcome.
That is not to say the Gers would not be open to business in the summer if the right offer is tabled, but for now it seems best to keep the 22-year-old at the club.
In other Rangers news, Clement is said to be “delighted” amid the latest transfer speculation emerging from Ibrox.
