Rangers transfer news as Ridvan Yilmaz exit stance emerges, Galatasaray interest could depend on Celtic

Ridvan Yilmaz has always maintained a desire to stay at Rangers, amid interest from Galatasaray, according to Football Scotland.

The publication reported on its website on Wednesday (31 January) that the Turkish club could end their interest in the Gers ace if they sign PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa.

The Ligue 1 star is also being targeted by Rangers’ fierce rivals Celtic in the current transfer window, Football Scotland added.

Decision made?

It seems that, despite all of the talk surrounding Yilmaz in recent times, the left-back is set to remain a Rangers player for the foreseeable future.

And that should be warmly welcomed by everyone connected with the club, with the Turkey international really impressing under Philippe Clement in recent times.

The defender has shone at both ends of the pitch, and now looks to be the first-choice option at left-back ahead of Borna Barisic, a situation that was perhaps unthinkable not so long ago. The Rangers faithful really appreciate a loyal player, so Yilmaz’s stance should give them a huge boost.

Clement will also be grateful, although the man in the dugout will more than likely chop and change his left-backs in the months to come.

The Glasgow club have a Scottish Premiership pursuit of fierce rivals Celtic to focus on, while they will also be keen to go as far as possible in both the Europa League and Scottish Cup.

Rangers

And that challenge will be much easier with two talented left-backs available, with their ongoing battle for that number one spot only going to raise standards.
