Rangers transfer news as Deadline Day twist emerges in Galatasaray and Besiktas battle to sign Ridvan Yilmaz
Galatasaray will not need permission from Rangers like Besiktas if they are able to find an agreement to sign Ridvan Yilmaz, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
The Turkish journalist shared on his personal X account (1 February) that the Besiktas and Rangers do not have an agreement that binds Yilmaz to them in comparison to Galatasaray who will not need approval should they find an agreement before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
It is believed that if the Light Blues were to sell Yilmaz to Besiktas, they would need detailed information. Both clubs have been linked with the Turk’s signature for much of this month, with Galatasaray working to sign him.
Sabuncuoglu posted: “There is no agreement between Rangers and Beşiktaş that binds the player or the club. If Rangers wants to sell Rıdvan to Turkey, they will only give detailed information about the transfer to Beşiktaş.
“If Galatasaray signs an agreement with Rıdvan and his club, it does not have to get any permission.”
Keep him
It does seem like it’s a two-way battle between the two clubs for Yilmaz’s signature but Galatasaray are clearly the leading candidates given the work they’re putting in.
However, Rangers are yet to sign a left-back which means the two clubs face a dilemma in their pursuit. Manager Philippe Clement will not sanction an exit for Yilmaz without a replacement.
Also, the Turk’s recent emergence as the first-choice left-back ahead of Borna Barisic underscores his importance to the team and that momentum cannot be ended right now.
With the collapse of the deal to bring in Jefte from Fluminense, Clement’s side would be left short-handed in the left-back position if they were to part ways with Yilmaz.
The 22-year-old’s performances in recent weeks have somewhat finally proven his worth to the fans and Clement, showcasing his defensive solidity and attacking contributions.
Selling him now, even if Galatasaray match the Rangers demand for the full-back will be incredibly silly and it’s important the Gers knock back all and every approach for him before the deadline.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are on course to make a deadline day signing after what happened recently as a behind-the-scenes claim has emerged.
