Rangers: Jose Cifuentes transfer announcement could be made as late as March
Rangers fans could be made to wait as long as a month for an announcement on Jose Cifuentes’ move to Brazilian side Cruzeiro, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper shared via their live transfer blog [1 February, 20:14] that, while an agreement has been reached to take the midfielder on loan, their transfer window does not close until March.
This means that, while a deal may have been agreed with Rangers, there is no rush to announce it before 11pm on 1 February as would be the case if he was moving in Europe.
The deal should be done
Regardless of how long Rangers are made to wait before an official announcement from the Brazilian club, this deal should go through. It seems everything has been agreed upon, and the player is keen on the move, so it should be a matter of when rather than if.
It was said in the original story reporting this move [Alan Nixon, 29 January] that Cifuentes remains keen on a future at Ibrox, so leaving the club in the near future may not spell a complete end to his career in Glasgow.
The news that the player remains keen on becoming a success at Rangers is a positive, unlike other arrivals alongside him under Michael Beale who were keen to get away as soon as possible with no return in sight.

If Cifuentes wants to improve and eventually shine at Ibrox, a move to Brazil may allow him more room to develop and grow his game before returning to Rangers with more experience and a more rounded game which could help him make the step up.
In other Rangers news, a deadline-day Shankland update has emerged.
