Lens manager Franck Haise confirms Rangers and Oscar Cortes transfer update as clock ticks to transfer deadline
Lens manager Franck Haise has confirmed that the club are getting closer to a loan with an option to buy move to Rangers for Oscar Cortes.
That is according to journalist Laurent Mazure, who shared the update from the manager on X on Thursday (1 February).
The 20-year-old Lens attacker has made just four appearances for the French outfit, registering one goal and one assist.
Incoming
The youngster’s arrival at Ibrox is imminent, with Gers fans set to be in for plenty of excitement once the deal is officially confirmed by their club.
Cortes really doesn’t have much senior football experience at all, but Philippe Clement clearly sees potential in the forward. And Colombia clearly rate him highly, with the national team having handed a debut to the attacker last year.
The Gers have already strengthened their attack this window in the form of loanee Fabio Silva, but now Cortes will come in, also on a temporarily deal but with the option to then make it permanent.
That should surely be enough for the Scottish side to mount serious challenges in the Scottish Premiership, Europa League and Scottish Cup, with the club having already lifted the League Cup trophy this season.
A new forward was perhaps a requirement for Clement after the huge blow to Abdallah Sima, who looks set to be out for quite some time after getting injured at the Africa Cup of Nations.
In other Rangers news, a report has shared what Ibrox chiefs privately say about Jack Butland after a transfer approach for the goalkeeper.
