Galatasaray pull out all the stops to sign Ridvan Yilmaz from Rangers in late Deadline Day twist
Galatasaray pulled out all the stops in their attempts to sign Ridvan Yilmaz from Rangers on deadline day, but the left-back is set to remain at Rangers, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper reported via their live transfer blog [1 February, 20:50] that, despite the Turkish Super League transfer window closing on 9 February rather than tonight, he will not be leaving Ibrox.
It was also reported by Daily Record journalist Andy Newport that Galatasaray had made a late bid for Yilmaz, but Rangers turned down the offer.
A late twist to the tale
It seemed almost inevitable that Yilmaz would leave Glasgow this month, initially with links to Serie A club Hellas Verona, and then with Galatasaray’s interest, and the persistence of the Turkish side made it seem like a move would certainly happen.
However, he is now set to remain at Ibrox and remain part of the first-team plans, while Rangers were also unable to land a new left-back which would’ve given them the required depth to let Yilmaz leave.
Yilmaz’s future at Ibrox has been one of the main talking points from this transfer window, with discussions rumbling on since the beginning of the month, but it now appears he will remain at Ibrox for the long term after all.

His recent performances after a spell in the Rangers first-team following an injury to Borna Barisic has seen his game hit new heights, with a clear step up in his displays, which may now be what tempted Philippe Clement to keep him in mind.
