Deadline Day Rangers exit still on cards for Ridvan Yilmaz as Galatasaray wage stance emerges

Galatasaray are unwilling to pay Ridvan Yilmaz more than Baris Alper and Muhammed Kerem Aktürkoğlu but a last-gasp Rangers exit is still on the cards, according to Suleyman Rodop.

The Ajans 1905 journalist reported via X on Thursday (1 February) that the Turkish giants would never be willing to pay the Gers’ fullback more than two of their current stars, however, should a solution be reached with the player the deal will be completed.

Rangers want £3.8million [€4.5million] for the 22-year-old this month, and while Galatasaray have accepted this price, Yilmaz’s wage demands remain a stumbling block to getting this deal over the line ahead of Thursday night’s transfer deadline.

Not over yet

While it seems unlikely at this point, there is still a chance that Yilmaz may not be a Rangers player come the end of the January transfer window, if an agreement can be reached over the left-back’s wages.

It seems reasonable that Galatasaray are not overly eager to make the Light Blues’ defender one of their highest earners, especially if they have to pay a large transfer fee to get this deal over the line in the final hours of the window.

Ultimately, Rangers are not particularly keen to lose one of their only left-back options and it remains to be seen whether Yilmaz is eager to make the move to Turkey. Galatasaray were always going to have to pay over the odds to try and finalise this move.

Hopefully, Yilmaz won’t lower his wage demands in the final hours of the transfer window, otherwise, the Gers will face a late rush to try and get a new left-back to Ibrox which may be difficult with such little time left.
