Rangers transfer news as striker loan now on cards at Ibrox before February 1

Rangers are keen to bring in a striker on loan following the imminent arrival of Oscar Cortes, according to Football Scotland.

Responding to a question via their official X platform (31 January), the Scottish news outlet revealed that the Gers are keen to add a striker with both Danilo and Abdallah Sima currently sidelined with injuries.

If a frontman was to arrive, supporters should “expect” the arrival to be a loan signing.

This follows news that Cortes is close to joining Rangers on an initial six-month loan deal from Ligue 1 outfit Lens (Daily Record, 31 January).

Late activity

It looks as if the Gers are set for a busy final 24 hours of the January transfer window, and supporters of the club might want to strap themselves in.

With Cortes closing in on his arrival, and a striker on the agenda, it is clear that Philippe Clement is looking to add some firepower to his attack before deadline day.

While there is very little time left in the transfer window, there is certainly still enough time for the club to get a deal or two across the line, and any additions now would come as a big boost to Clement and his squad.

The Gers are set for a busy few months as they look to overtake Celtic in the Scottish Premiership and embark on another exciting European journey.

With the injuries they currently have, a fresh face or two definitely wouldn’t go amiss.

In other Rangers news, one player’s last-gasp exit from the club has now been ruled out.
