Rangers transfer news amid profit twist in Nottingham Forest chase of Jack Butland

Rangers are in line to turn a “massive” profit by the sale of goalkeeper Jack Butland to Nottingham Forest, per the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported in its print edition on 31 January, page 50, that Gers do not want to sell the Englishman ahead of the deadline.

The 30-year-old moved to Ibrox on a free transfer in the summer after his deal at Crystal Palace ran out.

Resist urges

It would undoubtedly make economic sense for Rangers to sell a player they signed on a free transfer for decent money.

By the looks of it, Forest will be willing to chalk up an impressive fee which is why the mention of a “massive” profit has emerged.

However, that’s the last thing Philippe Clement will want to do less than 48 hours before the transfer window closes.

January is to strengthen the side and plug the holes in the side in order to make them competitive enough to challenge Celtic for the league.

They’re already playing catch up to their rivals in terms of points and the last thing the fans want at this time is another season where they watch Celtic lift the title.

Rangers

Hopefully, Forest do not return with a substantial bid but it seems that they’ve left it too late for Gers to even consider entering the negotiation table.

They’re owned by Evangelos Marinakis, a billionaire, so money is not going to be the concern.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are on course to make a deadline day signing after what happened recently as a behind-the-scenes claim has emerged.
