Rangers: Scott McKenna spotted getting out of private jet amid Ibrox transfer speculation

Scott McKenna has arrived in Denmark to put the finishing touches on his January transfer to FC Copenhagen, having been a target for Rangers and Celtic, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday (30 January) that the 27-year-old defender who has been linked with a move to Glasgow this month is set to join the Danish side on a cut-price deal having fallen out of favour at Nottingham Forest.

McKenna has been spotted arriving in Denmark in a video posted to X by Copenhagen Sundays (30 January), exiting a private jet as he looks to put pen to paper on a contract with the Champions League club.

Reports initially emerged from Sky Sports (5 January) that both Rangers and Celtic held an interest in the 27-year-old, having been available on an initial loan deal before his contract at the City Ground expired at the end of the season.

Swing and a miss

Whether or not Rangers’ interest in McKenna ever went any further than the initial reports remains to be seen, but it seems clear that the Forest centre-back will not be a Rangers player before the transfer deadline.

While Philippe Clement would have likely hoped to have added to his centre-back options this month, the Belgian had more pressing issues to deal with in the January window, including bolstering his midfield and adding to his wide options.

McKenna would have been an excellent addition, but not one that the Gers had to make this month. Maybe this could be a deal that the Light Blues could revisit come the summer when Clement has more time to shape his squad.

Hopefully, one or two private jets will be making the trip to Glasgow in the final days of the January window, with a little bit more work required before it slams shut at Ibrox.
