Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz transfer twist emerges, on three-man shortlist

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz is on a three-man shortlist with Frank Fabra and Nicolas Tagliafico at Galatasaray, according to Aksam.

The Turkish media outlet reported on 31 January that Yilmaz is open to moving to Galatasaray but an agreement is yet to be found with Gers.

An agreement with Philippe Clement has also been reached and it’s just down to the final transfer price.

Twists and turns

The Yilmaz transfer saga appears to be undergoing fresh twists and turns every day and it’s still unclear where he ends up.

With less than 48 hours to go to the deadline, it’s hard to predict if he’ll be a Rangers player come the 2nd of February.

Jefte appears to be on his way and the feeling seems to be that once he’s announced then clarity will emerge over the future of the Turkey international.

That will make it three left-backs in the first team and Borna Barisic, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, does not appear to be under any immediate urgency to be sold.

It’s a tad surprising as Gers can rather sell him and make some money right away as they’ve got a replacement coming through the door.

However, if a left-back is to leave this month, it’s expected to be Yilmaz and not Barisic.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are on course to make a deadline day signing after what happened recently as a behind-the-scenes claim has emerged.
