Philippe Clement must stand firm as Jack Butland exit news emerges at Rangers, it’s a no-brainer
Former Rangers manager Michael Beale didn’t exactly get a lot wrong during his time at Ibrox, with the boss having enjoyed many memorable moments in the dugout.
But recruitment was one area that he struggled with, and unfortunately that is an area with little room for error in Glasgow.
Nine new faces were brought to the club last summer, many of which have failed to have an impact in blue, and it is now January.
But one that has shone brightly is Jack Butland, with the goalkeeper instantly filling the gloves of legendary shot-stopper Allan McGregor following his retirement.
Butland impressed under Beale, and he has done the same under Philippe Clement, so much so that he is once again attracting interest from the Premier League.
Having already played in the competition for the likes of Stoke City and Crystal Palace, the 30-year-old is now wanted by Nottingham Forest, according to STV News (30 January).
The publication added, however, that the Gers have issued a hands-off warning, with the club not entertaining any offers for their number one.
That is the stance from the powers that be at Ibrox, and that is the stance that Clement must take until the January transfer window comes to a halt.
Given the finances available to Nottingham Forest, a lucrative offer may just arrive before the deadline, but the Rangers manager has to stand firm when it comes to his goalkeeper.

Not only is Butland one of his star players, but losing him now would be disastrous given how the club would be left with no time at all to find a replacement.
Deputy Robby McCrorie would not be the worst option for Clement, but the goalkeeper certainly isn’t at the standard of Butland.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have looked at a striker, who is currently on trial at Premier League giants Manchester United.
