Hellas Verona could table last-ditch bid for Rangers star Cyriel Dessers as Philippe Clement stance emerges

Hellas Verona could still launch a last-ditch bid to sign Rangers ace Cyriel Dessers in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (31 January) that the Serie A club are still interested in doing a deal to land the Nigerian international.

It added that the Italian side will have to act quickly as a potential deal for the 29-year-old forward would leave Philippe Clement virtually no time to get a replacement in ahead of the 11:30pm deadline on Thursday (1 February).

Not happening

There is surely no chance that Rangers would sanction a move away for Dessers at such a late stage in the transfer window.

There would have been plenty of Gers fans who would’ve been more than happy to see the back of him this month, but his fortunes have changed dramatically in the past couple of weeks.

The forward’s performances – and goals – have quickly turned him into a fans’ favourite at Ibrox as he’s finally showing signs of being the player the club coughed up a reasonable amount of money to sign last summer.

With Clement’s forward options currently depleted following a number of injuries, he can’t afford to let one of his only available strikers leave Glasgow.

It would take a hefty transfer fee for the Light Blues to even consider a sale, so you can quite comfortably say this one isn’t going to happen before the deadline comes around.

In other Rangers news, a manager has held a direct call with a Gers star he wants to sign this month.
