Rangers transfer news as Jefte fails to report for training ahead of Ibrox move

Jefte has failed to turn up to training with his loan club APOEL this week as Rangers continue to push for his signature before February 1, according to SuperSportFM.

The defender, who is currently on loan at APOEL from Fluminense, is said to have strongly annoyed his coach and management by skipping training.

When players choose not to turn up to training during the January transfer window, it usually means that they are attempting to force a move elsewhere. With strong interest from Rangers, it could be time for the Ibrox faithful to get excited.

Philippe Clement stated very early on in the window his desire to bring in a brand-new left-back, despite Ridvan Yilmaz and Borna Barisic both occupying that role in the squad.

Even despite the former’s revitalisation in recent weeks, scoring and assisting in his last two matches, Jefte looks moments away from securing his move to Ibrox.

It was reported on 26 January, as per Fabrizio Romano, that the Gers had managed to agree a deal with Fluminense for a deal for Jefte, with personal terms also done.

Since then, the trail seemed to have gone cold until now.

Jefte will be an incredible signing for Clement this January if the deal goes through before the closure of the transfer window. Having scored three goals and recorded four assists in 18 league appearances this season, he is set to match the Belgian’s attacking playing style perfectly.

With the constant goal threat of James Tavernier on the opposite flank, Clement is starting to put his own spin on things with numerous new arrivals – all eyes are on this one.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have already agreed terms on another signing before the deadline but face having to double the transfer fee.
