Galatasaray try to break Rangers in last-gasp Ridvan Yilmaz transfer news
Galatasaray have agreed a move with Ridvan Yilmaz and his agent but the Turkish club are still trying to break Rangers’ price, according to Ali Naci Gukuk.
The Gazeteci journalist reported via Eski Acik on X [29 January] that Galatasaray are still trying to lower Rangers’ asking price for the full-back but the deal needs to be done soon, with UEFA squads being announced on 2 February.
It is understood that the Turkish giants have given Yilmaz a “playing guarantee” ahead of a January move to Turkey, as per Naci Gukuk.
Sad to see him go
Much to the disappointment of a lot of Rangers fans, it seems Yilmaz’s departure from Ibrox is imminent amid ongoing talks with Galatasaray.
The left-back has become resurgent under Clement in recent weeks, scoring and assisting in his last three games. He first assisted Todd Cantwell in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock before scoring the opener in a 3-0 victory over Hibernian.
There is no doubt that Yilmaz could be a starter for Clement and Rangers over the next few years, having signed a five-year deal in July 2022 when he joined from Besiktas. [BBC Sport]

Having only made 32 appearances in his time at Ibrox, it cannot be helped but feel like Yilmaz has more to offer for the Scottish side. The 22-year-old, although has some developing to do, is a raw talent and can offer a lot in his position.
However, with the potential incoming of Jefte from Fluminense this January, game time could be hard to come by for Yilmaz, who looks to be taking the easy route out rather than fighting for his place in the team.
