Update emerges on Rangers quest to seal Oscar Cortes transfer

Reports stating that Oscar Cortes is already in Scotland to seal his Rangers transfer are understood to be wide of the mark, according to This Is Ibrox.

The podcast that shares news on all things Rangers has rubbished claims of the deal being as advanced with him already being in the country.

While the 20-year-old is on course to move to Ibrox, he still has to fly into Glasgow for his medical.

They wrote on Twitter: “Led to believe reports Cortés is in Scotland already are nonsense.”

Get it done

Until Cortes isn’t at the club for his medical, it’s hard to think that the deal will be completed without any snags.

This is the stage of the window that leads to last-minute twists and turns with hijacks hard to rule out.

A lot of players end up deciding between multiple clubs where to move and that could see the sides that have missed out to make a move for targets down the priority list.

It remains to be seen when the Colombian does end up flying in and whether or not he becomes the third signing of the month.

Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diamonde have already joined and a winger was understood to be next on the priority list for Philippe Clement’s side.

By the looks of it, the player is open to the move and Gers want him to join as well so it should go through in the next day or two.

In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
