Hull City owner Acun Ilicali drops ‘urgent’ transfer verdict on exit-linked Rangers man Ridvan Yilmaz

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has urged Ridvan Yilmaz to make an “urgent” transfer to Galatasaray as he is in the “wrong place” at Rangers.

The Turkey full-back joined from Besiktas in July 2022 but has been linked with a return to the Turkish Super Lig with Galatasaray.

Derek Clark wrote on X on Monday (January 29) that Gala have more money to spend in their pursuit of Yilmaz but have so far not met the asking price, which is said to be as high as €6million (£5.1m) Futbol Arena on 22 January.

Media mogul Ilicali, the Turkish owner of Championship side Hull, thinks Yilmaz should be making the move back to his homeland.

“Rıdvan Yılmaz went to the wrong place. He needs to make an urgent comeback, such returns are effective. Galatasaray management knows the best, but it can do good things in the Turkish quota,” he said on Beyaz TV in quotes reported by Cumhuriyet (January 29).

Pay up or jog on

This really could not be more of a simple equation in my opinion.

Gala, seemingly, really want Yilmaz. Rangers, understandably, are reluctant to sell this late in the window but every player has a price and the 22-year-old has only really started to get an extended run in the team.

But if a deal is going to be done then Gala have to pay the asking price there really is no grey area here. Want the player? Pay the price. Simple. Done. Otherwise these constant updates are worth absolutely nothing.

Rangers

Why the Hull owner is getting involved is beyond me in all honesty as it really has nothing to do with him. That being said, it all comes back to the same point doesn’t it? Rangers might consider a sale if the money is right. So far it isn’t right so they haven’t sold.

This close to the end of the window it really is difficult to believe that selling Yilmaz is the best option.

In other Rangers news, one deal is expected to be announced as early as Tuesday at Ibrox.
