Rangers to meet Galatasaray officials this week in new Ridvan Yilmaz transfer news

Rangers are set to meet with Galatasaray officials again this week as negotiations continue over a potential January deal for Ridvan Yilmaz, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

The Sports Digitale journalist reported via his X account on 28 January that another meeting is now set to take place as the Turkish giants are looking to get the deal done before the transfer deadline.

This has come after Sabuncuoglu reported on 27 January that Rangers had rejected a loan-to-buy offer of £2.5million, as they are demanding £3.8million to allow him to leave.

Negotiations coming to a head

With multiple loan-to-buy offers from Galatasaray having been rebuffed by Rangers, it is surely only a matter of time before either side changes their stance on the deal in an effort to get it through before deadline day on 1 February.

Whether that change comes from Rangers lowering their demands, or from Galatasaray upping their offers, which have so far fallen short of the asking price, it feels like this deal will go through soon.

Yilmaz has put a string of impressive performances in at Ibrox since the injury blow to Borna Barisic saw him thrown into the first team, which could tempt Rangers to keep him after all, especially if their demands are not met.

The gap in their valuation of £1.3million shouldn’t be too steep for the Turkish club to negotiate, particularly after the £25.6million deal to sell Sacha Boey to Bayern Munich [Fabrizio Romano, 28 January], so if Rangers stick to their guns in demanding £3.8million, they could soon get what they want.
