Lawrence Shankland transfer news as Rangers officials at Tynecastle again

Rangers scouts were present at Tynecastle to watch Lawrence Shankland as Hearts swept Aberdeen aside on Saturday 27 January, according to The Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reporter via its website that officials from Ibrox were in attendance as the Scottish Premiership’s leading goalscorer netted his 19th goal of the season.

However, Steven Naismith is adamant that Shankland, who has 18 months left on his current contract, will remain at Tynecastle unless they receive a “huge” offer.

Is it urgent?

Rangers’ urgency for a brand new striker has declined over the past few weeks, considering Cyriel Dessers improved form. The Nigeria international has recorded five goal contributions in his last six appearances, including goals against St Mirren, Hibernian and St Johnstone.

However, there is no doubt that Shankland would be a welcomed addition at Ibrox, considering his incredible calibre and prowess in front of goal.

Philippe Clement felt it necessary to bring in Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves, with Danilo and Kemar Roofe both suffering from injuries and experiencing extended stays on the sideline.

Rangers

If Rangers are to make a comeback in the league and pip Celtic to the title, an instinctive striker like Shankland may be exactly what they need. Especially with the added fixtures from the Europa League, the Gers are preparing for a busy second half of the season.

The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career and has definitely earned a move to a bigger club. However, a potential lack of funds at Ibrox could be the determining factor in whether a move is made for the forward, considering a huge offer is expected for him.
