Galatasaray ‘very close’ to agreeing late January transfer deal for Rangers ace Ridvan Yilmaz

Galatasaray are now “very close” to an agreement to bring Rangers left-back Ridvan Yimaz to Turkey in a late January transfer move, according to Omer Faruk Ozcan.

The Sabah Spor journalist reported via his X account on 28 January that an agreement between the two clubs is close to being found before the January transfer window closes.

Yilmaz scored in the 3-0 win over Hibernian on 24 January and was involved as Rangers defeated St Mirren 1-0 on Saturday but negotiations have been going on throughout the window and he could still yet depart Ibrox before February 1.

This one feels inevitable

Regardless of his late upturn in form at Ibrox, it always felt inevitable that he would leave the club in January, with the long-standing interest from Galatasaray and their determination to get the deal done proven by their step up in negotiations.

Yilmaz has picked up one goal and one assist in his last three games for Rangers, finally showing the sort of form they would have been wanting from him much earlier in his career at Ibrox.

That form may not have been enough to guarantee his position under Philippe Clement, with his future likely decided before his performances, and it now looks like he will complete his move back to Turkey.

Rangers

It was officially announced on 28 January that Bayern Munich have secured the signing of Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey, which may have provided the Turkish giants with the extra money to offer Rangers in a bid to get this deal over the line.
