Scott Wright drops 3/10 stinker, John Lundstram shines with 8/10 – Rangers player ratings v St Mirren
Rangers claimed a vital three points thanks to Cyriel Dessers 12th goal of the season as they earned a hard-fought win over St Mirren on Saturday lunchtime.
The Gers controlled the opening 45 minutes and took an early lead when John Lundstram played a lovely ball over the top to Cyriel Dessers, who went around the keeper for his third goal in three games.
The second half was a quiet affair with neither team really creating much, but Rangers stood firm to keep another clean sheet and a big three points.
Jack Butland – 6/10
Did absolutely nothing wrong but then had nothing to do for the whole game either. Stayed alert and made one save in the first half but an easy day in the office overall.
James Tavernier – 6/10
A strong performance from the skipper where he was better going forward once again. Hit the post with a long-range strike in the first-half and created chances with his crossing too, while keeping St Mirren quiet at the other end.
Connor Goldson – 6/10
Returned into the team after suspension and was his usual colossal self at the back, dominating aerially, controlling the defensive line and efficient with his passing too.
John Souttar – 6/10
The Rangers defence had very little to do so it was difficult for the players to stand out with their performances, but Souttar didn’t put a foot wrong and can be happy with his performance alongside Goldson.
Ridvan Yilmaz – 6/10
In tough conditions Yilmaz was able to get up and down the pitch well and provide support for the attack. However with the forward line rather blunt throughout, it wasn’t the best performance overall.
John Lundstram – 8/10
Lundstram is emerging as the key midfielder in Clement’s squad with his solid passing, strong tackling and tactical awareness. Another excellent performance where he was the best player on the pitch by a mile. Get him that new contract.
Nicolas Raskin – 6/10
The Belgian is coming back to full fitness but is still looking good which is a good sign for the rest of the season. Dominated the ball well and broke the lines with his passing and dribbling, but needs more of an impact in the final third.
Dujon Sterling – 7/10
The utility man of the squad but Sterling can’t help but play well at the moment. He started in midfield, then went to the wing despite being a natural defender yet did everything right and has become a key member of Clement’s lineup.

Todd Cantwell – 4/10
Substituted at half-time once again which will raise questions about fitness, but Cantwell struggled to really make an impact in the first-half and was more of a pedestrian than a participant.
Scott Wright – 3/10
Hooked at half-time after being given a rare opportunity from the start. Failed to run at his defenders, couldn’t keep possession very well and struggled to make any sort of impact. Poor showing.
Cyriel Dessers – 7/10
A third goal in three games for the Nigerian, who looks fitter and sharper than at any point in his Ibrox career to date. A well-taken goal that showed his improved confidence and justified his spot in the starting lineup.
SUBSTITUTES
Ross McCausland – 5/10
