Ridvan Yilmaz decision made as Philippe Clement makes four changes – Rangers confirmed XI v St Mirren

Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the Scottish Premiership clash against St Mirren on Saturday (27 January).

Manager Philippe Clement has made four changes from the side that defeated Hibernian 3-0 on Wednesday (24 January).

Goalkeeper Jack Butland retains his place following the clean sheet at Easter Road, as does John Souttar in central defence, but the first change sees Connor Goldson come in for Leon Balogun.

Captain James Tavernier gets the nod at right-back once more, with the exit-linked Ridvan Yilmaz at left-back once more. In midfield, Clement has once again opted for Nico Raskin and John Lundstram.

And in attack, Todd Cantwell keeps his place, but Dujon Sterling and Scott Wright come in for Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo. Up front, Cyriel Dessers replaces Fabio Silva.

Another big game

It is another very important match for Clement and his players, who will be keen to continue their strong run against St Mirren.

The two clubs have already met twice in the Scottish Premiership this season, with Rangers coming out on top on both occasions.

The Gers won 3-0 at St Mirren back in October, before bagging two more goals and another clean sheet in the Ibrox clash in December.

But Clement will be looking forward as opposed to back, with all eyes now on the meeting in Paisley as the visitors look to keep the pressure on league leaders Celtic.

The Bhoys currently top the Scottish Premiership table with 54 points, five points ahead of Rangers in second, although the latter do have a game in hand.

Rangers

And while Clement’s side are looking good, Brendan Rodgers’s men are also going strong, and do not look like slipping up anytime soon.

The four changes could result in Clement switching from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3, with Sterling dropping into midfield alongside Lundstram and Raskin.
