Rangers: Journalist shares Ridvan Yilmaz transfer update as Jefte to Ibrox news emerges via Fabrizio Romano

Ridvan Yilmaz may yet leave Rangers in the January transfer window should Jefte join from Fluminense, according to Ross Pilcher.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday (26 January) that the Gers have reached an agreement with the Brazilian side to sign the defender.

Jefte is said to have already agreed personal terms with Rangers, but APOEL – where he is currently on loan – must first green light his exit.

Should Jefte put pen to paper over the next week, fellow left-back Ridvan may be given the all clear to join Galatasaray.

Writing for the Daily Record [26 January], Pilcher said: “Galatasaray are interested in taking him back to the Super Lig.

“That may well happen once Jefte signs on the dotted line.”

Well in

Bringing in a new left-back has been a pressing concern for Rangers this window, despite having Borna Barisic and Ridvan on the books.

Ridvan has been constantly linked with an exit this month, while Barisic is due to be out of contract at the end of the campaign.

If not now, then it would have been an absolute priority to sign a player in that position come the summer transfer window.

While not a great deal is known about Jefte, the club deserve huge praise for identifying an option and making their move this month.

And with the Brazilian in place, there is no reason why Ridvan’s exit cannot be sanctioned over the remaining week of the window.

The Turkey international has failed to prove he can be Barisic’s long-term successor and it would be good to land some sort of fee for him.

With a third signing of the window now on the verge of going through, it has been a very impressive month behind the scenes at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, a decision on Lawrence Shankland is now surely set in stone following news that emerged earlier this week.
