James McFadden wowed by ‘cool’ Cyriel Dessers live on Sky Sports in Rangers v St Mirren

Pundit James McFadden was blown away by the “lovely” finish from Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers against St Mirren.

The forward opened the scoring in Paisley in the Scottish Premiership clash between the two clubs on Saturday (27 January).

Dessers beat the offside trap as he latched on to a John Lundstram through ball, before rounding Zach Hemming and slotting the ball home.

“It’s a cool touch and a lovely finish from Dessers,” McFadden said on Sky Sports Main Event (12.46pm, 27 January), as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He’s showing that confidence now. He’s received a lot of stick at times this season but he’s showing that composure now.”

Full of confidence

Dessers really struggled for confidence in the months following his summer switch to Ibrox, with the striker failing to impress Gers supporters. But he has come alive in recent times, with that confidence fully on show after just 14 minutes against St Mirren.

It was a very well-taken goal, which came thanks to a superb through ball over the top from his teammate Lundstram.

The midfielder has shown his creative side lately, having also assisted Ridvan Yilmaz for the opening goal in the recent win over Hibernian.

It was a superb start from the Gers at Easter Road, and a similarly strong start in Paisley, with Dessers on target in both matches.

The summer signing was forced to do it from the bench last time out, with recent recruit Fabio Silva starting ahead of him.

But this time it was the other way around, with Philippe Clement trusting Dessers from the start, with the Wolves loanee forced to watch on from the bench at the start.
