Ian Crocker blown away live on Sky Sports after what ‘exquisite’ John Lundstram did for Rangers v St Mirren

Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker was left stunned by John Lundstram’s “exquisite” assist for Cyriel Dessers as Rangers took the lead against St Mirren on Saturday (27 January).

The Gers were looking to close the gap between themselves and Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership to just two points at St Mirren Park before the Hoops took on Ross County later on.

And Philippe Clement’s side made a brilliant start when Dessers grabbed his eighth league goal of the campaign and his 12 goals in all competitions inside 14 minutes running on to a sublime pass from Lundstram to round the keeper and score.

Croker speaking live on Sky Sports (27 January, 12:48 pm) was blown away by yet another Lundstram assist after his pass for Ridvan Yilmaz against Hibernian on Wednesday (24 January).

He said: “Exquisite assist from Lundstram after he did the same for Yilmaz in the week. Lovely pass.”

Craftsman

The current form from Lundstram right now has been massively unexpected and he’s certainly become the Gers’ master craftsman right now after yet another stupendous assist.

Dessers still had much to do to grab the goal though as he showed tremendous composure and balance to round the keeper on a really difficult pitch and find the net all in one motion.

The Englishman has turned up and played a key role week in and week out in the Belgian’s midfield, getting incredibly stuck in, out of possession and producing moments of real quality when the ball is at his feet and that was the case again on Sunday.

He’s surprisingly become Rangers’ very own Kevin De Bruyne with these passes and as Clement desperately seeks more class and ingenuity from his midfield, he is getting from an unexpected components in Lundstram.

His ball to pick out Yilmaz against Hibs was absolutely sublime and while the Turkish international’s finish was just as impressive, it was made a lot easier because of the sheer quality of the ball into his path.

If Lundstram can continue to produce magic like that every week, coupled with the class of Nicolas Raskin alongside him and the January addition of the talented Mohamed Diomande, Clement could certainly be moulding a complete midfield trio.
