Galatasaray submits new official bid for Rangers star Ridvan Yilmaz as £2.5m transfer news emerges from Turkey

Galatasaray have tabled a new official offer for Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz worth £2.5m plus bonuses, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (27 January), the reliable Turkish journalist reports that the Istanbul club have returned with a fresh offer for the Turkey international as they look to seal a deal before the deadline.

Rangers are said to want to recoup the £4m they bought Ridvan for to let him go, and have already lined up a replacement with Jefte set for a medical this weekend.

“Galatasaray made a new official offer with a purchase option for Ridvan Yılmaz,” he wrote.

“Purchase option: 3 million euros (£2.5m) + bonuses. Rangers v St. Mirren – will give their answer to the offer after the match.”

Oh no

Rangers fans nightmares are coming true as Galatasaray are looking to make a deal for Ridvan happen quickly now.

The club have had a left-back problem for a while now with Ridvan struggling for injuries and Borna Barisic not reaching the levels he was once able to.

But the 22-year-old has really turned his form around in recent months and even started against St Mirren, turning in a solid performance as he cemented himself as the first-choice left-back.

However it’s clear that the club are open to allowing him to leave this month despite that, and Galatasaray are now pushing to make that happen before the February 1st deadline.

This could be a mistake because Barisic is out of contract in the summer and on the decline while Yilmaz is on an upwards trajectory, but we have to trust the manager’s eye and if this is what he wants the team simply must trust that the board can negotiate a great deal.
