David Edgar shares Rangers transfer news as Jose Cifuentes bid accepted
The decision is down to Jose Cifuentes as Rangers have accepted a bid to sell him to Rizespor, according to Heart and Hand’s David Edgar.
He claimed on 27 January that the initial offer would be a loan with an option to buy in the summer for £2million.
Despite moving to Ibrox this summer, Cifuentes already appears to be on the cusp of sealing an exit.
Edgar wrote: “Jose Cifuentes could be moving to Turkish side Rizespor. We’ve accepted their bid, down to him now.The deal is an initial loan with an option to buy in the summer for £2million.”
Make it an obligation
The option to buy certainly favours the Turkish club as they can take him in January without the intention of paying for him.
They can just offer a nominal loan fee and have the luxury of a player who otherwise would’ve been out of their budget.
For a club like Rizespor, it is a steep fee so Gers should do whatever they can to make it an obligation, but it seems like they can’t now.
Cifuentes will want regular game time and knows that he’s fallen in the pecking order at Ibrox and has failed to impress Philippe Clement.
Even under Michael Beale, the manager who brought him to the club, Cifuentes did not manage to prove his worth.
It’s best for all parties that he parts ways with Rangers for good as Mohamed Diomande’s signing will mean even fewer minutes for him from here on in.
In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
