Ridvan Yilmaz transfer update at Rangers as exit news drops from Ibrox
Ridvan Yilmaz wants to stay at Rangers amid January offers from Galatasaray, according to Turkish Football.
The website shared from sources [25 January] that, despite interest from Galatasaray, the 22-year-old defender is settled at Ibrox and is “delighted” after cementing his spot in the starting XI.
Despite reports, it is understood that personal terms have not been agreed to by the player, with the only talks ongoing between Rangers and Galatasaray.
Rumour mill
It is tough to know what to believe during transfer window months. However, after a few weeks of back-and-forth between Yilmaz staying and leaving Scotland, he finally looks set to remain at Ibrox.
This conclusion was further by the player himself after a cryptic message via X, as he fired home a goal against Hibernian during the Gers’ 3-0 victory on Wednesday 24 January.
Philippe Clement has been open about the idea of bringing in a new full-back, especially on the left flank in the place of the aforementioned defender and Borna Barisic.
However, considering Rangers’ slow pace in the January transfer window, there is little time for the club to get any new deal done. The Belgian may now be happy with Yilmaz, who has quickly developed into, what seems like, a brand-new player since his arrival.

Yilmaz’s goal was a testament to that, rounding off a fine defensive display with the match’s opening goal. That made it two goal contributions in as many games, adding to his assist for Todd Cantwell’s goal against Kilmarnock.
Without any signing in sight this month, Yilmaz may turn out to be a vitally important player in the second half of this season.
