Rangers submit offer to APOEL to seal last-gasp January transfer of Jefte after Fabrizio Romano update

Rangers have submitted an offer to APOEL to sign Brazilian left-back Jefte, according to APOEL official fan website.

According to the Cyrpiot outlet (26 January), the Gers have sent a proposal to APOEL to include Jefte in “its roster” as the Brazilian is on loan at the club from Fluminese.

This news emerged right before Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano broke on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon (26 January) that Rangers had reached an agreement with Fluminese to sign the 21-year-old left-back.

The deal is in place between the two clubs but Rangers are waiting for an official green light from APOEL to cancel the loan which may entail a small fee in order to get their man in a last-gasp January transfer.

Another bright addition

After the addition of Mohamed Diomande, the Gers are certainly working hard to bring another player in and it seems as though are closing on another impressive project addition.

Rangers desperately need an upgrade on both Yilmaz and Borna Barisic with the former likely to exit Ibrox before the window shuts.

Before that can happen, manager Philippe Clement needs a proactive replacement in place and Jefte looks to be that man, if they can convince APOEL to cut short his loan spell in Cyprus.

The 20-year-old has been rather impressive at the club scoring three goals from 18 first-team games and looks to be the player Rangers need to not only address the uncertainty at left-back but build towards a sustainable future at Ibrox.

Clement Rangers

Diomande is a player of a similar profile to Jefte and just the tonic the Gers need in order to transform and refresh a squad that’s been in desperate need of it even before Michael Beale’s blitz last summer.

In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
