Rangers injury news: Doctor shares worst-case update on Abdallah Sima

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers.

Rangers attacker Abdallah Sima may be out beyond eight weeks after picking up an injury on international duty, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Based on what the Senegalese federation have shared, the injury expert claims that it could even be a Grade 4 muscle rupture.

Rehab is unlikely to begin right away as the physios will wait for the pain and discomfort to ease before attending to it.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

Per the Senegalese Football Federation, he injured an adductor longus muscle in his left thigh and will be out for an extended period of time.

Best case here would likely be a Grade 2 or 3 which is typically four to six weeks out and worst case would be a Grade 4 rupture which would be two to three months out.

The expectations and hopes will be for him to be back within eight weeks but he could even be out longer.

“His immediate routine will depend on the severity of the injury but typically it’s allowing the pain and discomfort to calm down before rehab is initiated.

Sima’s absence will come as a huge blow for Philippe Clement as he was his main goal-scoring option this season.

The 22-year-old has bagged 10 league goals in 20 appearances for Rangers and has also provided two assists.
