Rangers agreement in place to sign Brazilian left-back Jefte as transfer blitz continues – Fabrizio Romano
Rangers have now reached an agreement to sign Fluminense left-back Jefte, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via his personal X account on Friday (26 January) that the deal is in place with Brazilian side Fluminense but the Gers are awaiting a green light from APOEL as he’s currently on loan with the Cypriot club.
It is understood that it’s a permanent deal and Jefte, 20, has agreed personal terms on a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox.
Transfer blitz continues
Rangers are doing absolute bits this winter.
Fabio Silva has joined on loan from Wolves to bolster the attack and earlier on Friday, it was confirmed that Mohamed Diomande is joining from FC Nordsjaelland once his work permit has been sorted out.
Now, the Gers are signing a new left-back, which is something that has been needed for a very long time.
Borna Barisic is probably enjoyed one of his better seasons as a Rangers player but there are always question marks over is fitness and there’s also the potential for him to have an absolute shocker.
Ridvan Yilmaz did score against Hibernian earlier this week but he’s been an underwhelming signing and has constantly been linked with a move back to Turkey.
Jefte is 20 years old and at APOEL this season, he’s scored three goals and supplied four assists in 18 Cypriot league matches, which suggests he’s a strong attack-minded option.
Either way, Jefte is a left-back who’s emerged from the Fluminense academy – just like Real Madrid legend Marcelo, who is the most decorated player in Bernabeu history.
