Philippe Clement ready to green-light Jose Cifuentes loan exit at Ibrox to save money
Philippe Clement is now ready to green-light Jose Cifuentes’ exit at Rangers in January to save money, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported that the Ecuador international has fallen out of favour with the Belgian at Ibrox.
The 24-year-old only moved to Ibrox in the summer under Michael Beale but has struggled to live up to expectations.
Via Patreon, Nixon wrote on 26 January: “Rangers are trying to send Ecuadorian midfielder Jose Cifuentes out on loan just months after signing him.
“Cifuentes has fallen out of favour under Philippe Clement who will allow him to into get his wages off the payroll.
“The Glasgow giants signed Cifuentes from LAFC in the MLS when he came at the start of the campaign. But he has failed to fire.”
Makes sense
The club cannot just keep signing players and paying wages to those who are not good enough and fail to live up to expectations.
Cifuentes arrived with plenty of promise but it’s clear that he’s not close to strengthening the playing eleven at Rangers.
If everyone is fit, he’ll perhaps be sixth or seventh in the pecking order and that is not a good sign for a new signing expected to be a first-team regular.
It’s good to see Clement also being ruthless in the transfer market as he’s given these players plenty of time to prove themselves.
Hopefully, there is a market for Cifuentes and Gers can cough up decent money from his sale as he’s only just joined a few months ago.

Regardless, the club are set for a busy few days in the market and that’s certainly exciting news for the fans.
In other Rangers news, clubs have now made contact with Gers as another first-team player appears set to be leaving the club soon.
