Chris Jack moots social media preparation as Mohamed Diomande transfer announcement imminent at Rangers

Mohamed Diomande’s transfer to Rangers could be announced any moment with the midfielder’s switch to Ibrox completed, according to Chris Jack.

The Light Blues are expected to complete the £4.5million transfer for the 22-year-old midfielder [B.T, 23 January] as their second addition of the January transfer window after Fabio Silva joined the ranks at Ibrox on loan from Wolves.

While Diomande’s arrival was delayed by storms preventing him from making the trip to Glasgow, Jack has insisted that the transfer has been completed and he will be announced as a Gers player sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the Rangers Review on Thursday (25 January, 18:30) he said: “In terms of an announcement it’s just a case of waiting on Rangers pushing the button. The deal is all done, it’s all been sorted, and he will be a Rangers player.

“I asked somebody at the game last night if we should expect an announcement today and they played it down but it is just a matter of whenever Rangers want to do their social media stuff.”

Waiting game

Rangers supporters have been eagerly awaiting a new arrival during the January transfer window as Silva’s addition feels like a long time ago already and this is a very exciting signing for the Light Blues ahead of the second half of the season.

Philippe Clement’s midfield has looked rather light in recent weeks with the likes of Nicolas Raskin and Ryan Jack facing extended spells on the sidelines, so adding in that area was always likely to be a priority during the January window.

Rangers

Diomande looks like a really bright prospect and could be a revelation in the middle of the park between now and the end of the season, but it is clear that the midfielder is viewed as a long-term project in Glasgow.

Hopefully, he can hit the ground running and impress from the off, but all being well, Rangers supporters shouldn’t have to wait too long to see their new man in action.
